Autumn

AUTUMN BEAR M.S., L.Ac

Hi, I’m Autumn!  I am a licensed acupuncturist and professor in the field of Chinese medicine.  I own and operate a private practice in the heart of Manhattan.  My goal is to collaborate with you to cultivate a personalized healing space that you find comfortable and inviting.

I specialize in treating patients with a wide array of autoimmune disorders, digestive issues, and allergies.  I have experience using herbs and acupuncture to help ameliorate symptoms of immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune skin conditions, allergy rash and Lyme's disease. With healing herbs and food medicine I address digestive disorders and gastrointestinal bloating related to wheat allergy, complications from stomach cancer, and digestive issues from other autoimmune causes.

My treatment approach is centered around the belief that food is medicine, and I thoroughly review diet and lifestyle to provide a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan to best suit your needs. I readily incorporate concepts of self care and lifestyle choices to help you, as my patient, feel empowered about your own healing process.

I am passionate about giving back to the profession through teaching.  I have had the great privilege of teaching in New York at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine,  as well as in programs focused on integrating acupuncture into mainstream medicine at the Universite Paris XI Faculte De Medecine Paris-Sud in Paris, France, and at the Wu Ming Dao Healing Center in Moscow, Russia.

My formal training in Classical Chinese Medicine was transmitted directly to me by the esteemed Taoist Master and 88th generation practitioner Jeffrey C. Yuen of the Jade Purity and Dragon Gate lineage. Additionally, I have spent more than two decades studying the arts of Feng Shui, Tui Na, Qi Gong, Dietary Therapy, Herbal Medicine, Epidemiology, Nutrition, Environmental Health, Physiology, and Psychology.  I am licensed to practice acupuncture by the States of New York and New Jersey, and I am a certified Diplomate of Acupuncture as conferred by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

I am dedicated to my craft and readily integrate an understanding of complementary therapies into both my teachings and my practice.

I live in Brooklyn with my husband, daughter and sweet love hound Dallas.

  • Last week I saw Erica and had a great experience. She has a lovely bedside manner and we did a treatment that was different than I had ever had before. I felt great afterwards and will definitely see her again. Thanks Erica!

  • I came to Autumn with a nebulous complaint - I just kept getting sick. I’d get a cold and it would mostly get better, but not all the way and then a few weeks later I’d get sick again. This is not something a mainstream Dr will help you with at all. Autumn spent the time with me to really understand and identify what was going on. She very quickly assessed that I needed to clear something from my system that was not moving out on its own. A few treatments later I fell very ill with a “healing crisis”... basically her treatments were forcing this latent illness out of my system. I came down with a fever. She assured me that if I could suffer through the fever, I’d have sustainable wellness on the other side. She was right. She listened, understood my symptoms, treated me carefully and helped me through the healing crisis. I am so thankful to have wellness in my life.

  • It is so important as an alternative health practitioner to have a network of competent and caring wellness professionals that I can refer my clients to. When I first met Autumn many years ago I instantly knew her knowledge and expertise would greatly improve my clients health, and be the perfect compliment to a holistic nutrition program. I can now say with the utmost sincerity that when my clients seek treatment from Autumn they receive incredible results. It has been such a joy to witness their health transformations.Autumn is a true professional, an expert in her field. She is kind, knowledgable, compassionate, and flexible. She is first and foremost interested in her patients healing process, and has the unique and transformative ability to truly hold the space and allow healing to happen. I am immensely grateful to have Autumn in my network and I would recommend her highly to anyone looking to improve their health on a very deep level.

  • Erica has a deeply rooted and spiritual approach to the medicine seldom encountered. I was transfixed by the level of complexity she was able to delve into. Her path is one of deep reverence and skillful articulation of the erudite and esoteric. A true healer in every sense of the word.
